Accenture has acquired Bengaluru-based semiconductor design services provider Excelmax Technologies.The company said the acquisition further enhances Accenture’s growing silicon design and engineering capabilities.
Excelmax provides custom silicon solutions used in consumer devices, data centers, artificial intelligence (AI), and computational platforms that enable edge AI deployments, to clients in the automotive, telecommunications, and high-tech industries.
The semiconductor market is experiencing a surge in demand for silicon design engineering, driven by the proliferation of data centers and the increasing use of AI and edge computing.
“With the rapid evolution of new technologies like generative AI and the growth of connected products, more intricate, specialised chips with enhanced performance and efficiency are required. Our acquisition of Excelmax enhances our expertise across every aspect of silicon design and development—from concept to production—so we can help our clients fuel innovation and drive growth," said Karthik Narain, Group Chief Executive of Technology at Accenture.
The company did not disclose the deal amount. The information technology (IT) company will add approximately 450 professionals in key areas such as emulation, automotive, physical design, analogue, logic design, and verification. Accenture's global workforce numbers over 750,000 employees.

Excelmax was founded in 2019 and offers comprehensive semiconductor solutions from high-level design to detailed physical layout ready for manufacturing, and full turnkey execution.
This acquisition follows the addition of XtremeEDA, an Ottawa, Canada-based silicon design services company, in 2022.
Accenture, the world’s largest IT services giant, has been on an acquisition spree. It spent USD 2.3 billion on a dozen acquisitions in the December quarter of last fiscal. This May, the company made five acquisitions, adding to four deals in April.
Accenture made 35 acquisitions worth USD 5.2 billion last fiscal, more than double compared to USD 2.5 billion in FY23.
