Her empathy for marginalized communities shone through her work uplifting other Dalit women entrepreneurs. Kalpana shared knowledge and encouragement generously to empower those deprived of opportunity. Her humility and compassion made her a guiding light for many.

When a labour union approached Kalpana to revive the closed Kamani Tubes factory, she took up the gauntlet despite the challenges. Driven by the spirit of protecting workers' livelihoods, Kalpana dove into resurrecting the shuttered facility.

With masterful negotiation and grit, she unravelled decades-old litigation knot by knot. Brick by brick, Kalpana rebuilt the crumbling infrastructure harnessing new technology. In a feat no industry expert could accomplish, this humble Dalit woman brought Kamani Tubes back from 20 years of darkness into the light of profitability.

By single-handedly turning around the fortunes of a closed factory, Kalpana became a legend in the landscape of women's entrepreneurship. She demonstrated that caste and gender are no shackles for the human spirit soaring to achievement. Her Padma Shri recognition is a celebration of this indomitable spirit.
