This year, Apple Inc. will manufacture the priciest iPhone Pro and Pro Max models in India for the first time, marking a significant achievement for both the US business and the Asian nation's manufacturing industry.
Within weeks of their fall global introduction, Foxconn Technology Group, a significant partner, will start assembling the new flagship gadgets, according to sources familiar with the situation. They asked not to be identified since the information is confidential, but they said that it has started training thousands of workers at its plant in the southern state of Tamil Nadu as it rushes to create the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max as soon to the worldwide debut as possible.
According to a Bloomberg article from August of this year, Foxconn, an Apple supplier, is expected to start producing the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models at its Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, plant. The devices are scheduled for release worldwide on September 9, 2024.
With Foxconn and Tata Electronics, Apple has greatly expanded its production of its flagship iPhone products in India. Tata, which purchased the Wistron businesses, is acquiring Pegatron's Indian businesses, which include an iPhone production facility close to Chennai. Apple wants to increase the percentage of iPhones made in India from 14% to 25% within the next three to four years. According to a recent report, Apple may be considering starting up iPad production again in India through Foxconn, motivated by the government's ambition to draw in new supply chains. Furthermore, Apple intends to begin producing AirPods in India in the beginning of 2019.
