Royal Enfield sets up a locally based CKD group in Nepal

This is the 5th overseas CKD unit following Brazil, Thailand, Colombia, and Argentina Its CKD facility will be involved in manufacturing locally both the newly launched Classic 350 and the Scram 411 in the beginning and will facilitate a smooth buying procedure in Nepal. The shares from Eicher Motors Ltd ended at the price of 3,699.60 in the red, a decrease of Rs 15.50 or 0.42 percent on BSE.

The manufacturer of motorcycles Royal Enfield, part of Eicher Motors, has set up an assembly facility local to Nepal along with a CKD manufacturing facility within Nepal during how it works to expand its reach outside of India.

Mid-sized motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield, part of Eicher Motors, on Friday, June 2 said it will be launching operations at its local assembly facility and CKD (destroyed) plant in Nepal.

In Birgunj located in Birgunj, the new facility is the fifth CKD assembly facility in the world following Brazil, Thailand, Colombia, and Argentina as well as its top-of-the-line manufacturing facilities and other ancillary facilities within Tamil Nadu, India.

With a capacity to produce 20000 units per year, the local assembly plant located in Birgunj is a state-of-the-art facility that covers over 1 lakh square feet. It will serve the increasing demand across the country.

In the beginning, the facility will begin making local assemblies of both the brand-new Classic 350 and the Scram 411. With this arrangement, Royal Enfield is committed to an effortless purchasing process for its motorcycles throughout Nepal in addition to fostering that growing segment of middleweight of Nepal.

B Govindarajan, CEO of Royal Enfield, said the company is now one of the top mid-segment brands in markets like Korea, the UK, Korea, Australia-New Zealand, and many more.

"Our strategic intent to be closer to global markets has worked well, as we have successfully set up four CKD facilities across APAC and Latin America, and we have recently also commenced our direct-to-market strategy in the UK," Govindarajan added.

Chief Commercial Officer Yadvinder Singh Guleria has announced that Royal Enfield will expand its retail outlets from the current 18 to 35 retail outlets in 30 cities in the coming year.

The shares of Eicher Motors Ltd ended at the price of 3,699.60 which was down by about Rs 15.50 or 0.42 percent on BSE.
